Chronic Constipation

Chronic constipation is defined as less than three bowel movements per week along with straining and hard lumpy stools. Associated symptoms include bloating, lethargy, and the feeling of incomplete emptying of the colon, hard and dry stools and abdominal tenderness.

Constipation may be related to medication or a medical disease. The most common cause of constipation is Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
